I’m thrilled to share that Freed has raised $30 million in Series A funding led by Sequoia Capital with participation from Scale Venture Partners, Daniel Gross, Gokul Rajaram, and Ted Zagat.

But what does this mean for you — the clinicians?

A Company Built for You

Freed’s mission is to be a company clinicians love.

Clinicians are the most selfless people in the world. You dedicate your lives to caring for others, often at the expense of your own well-being. I’ve witnessed this firsthand — my wife, Gabi, is a family doctor. For seven years, I saw the stress her charts caused her every day. She’s not alone in this struggle.

Clinicians everywhere are facing a crisis of well-being. I’ve spoken with many of you who talk about burnout like it's the common cold, an unavoidable part of the job.

If that sounds familiar, know this: Freed exists to give you your time back. How you spend it — on your patients, your loved ones, or yourself — is up to you. Our job is to give you the choice.

What’s Next

With this new funding, we’re accelerating our efforts to give you even more time back. Throughout March, Freed will become specialty-tuned, infinitely customizable, patient-aware, and better integrated into your EHR workflow.

Specialty-specific notes

Freed will write specialty-specific notes with the headers, sections, and formatting you expect. Rolling out now for Psychiatry, Mental & Behavioral Health, and Emergency Medicine — with Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedic Surgery, and more coming soon.

Template builder

Fine-tune your notes by customizing or creating your own templates with specific sections, subsections, and formatting. Soon, you’ll even have the option to let Freed automatically learn your preferred template format from a past note.

Smart visit prep

Freed can now provide context from past patient visits, including intelligent pre-charting, and follow-ups from previous encounters. And soon, you’ll be able to filter for upcoming visits, add future visits ahead of time, and jot down additional patient context before the appointment.

EHR integration

Now, you can seamlessly integrate Freed with your web-based EHR using our new Chrome extension. And soon, we’ll roll out new ways to transfer your completed notes and a more customizable interface.

Clinician Wins Worth Celebrating

In less than two years, over 17,000 clinicians have made Freed part of their workflow, generating 70,000 patient notes daily and over 2 million monthly. More importantly, you’ve reclaimed 2.7 million hours — and counting.

And we love hearing about what you’re doing with all that time.

Natalie’s sitting down to family dinners.

“Thanks to Freed, I close my computer and I am done for the day. My kids get all of me. I have my weekends back with my family. I'm not sitting late at night charting. I love it so much.”

– Natalie Desseyn, Family & Psychiatric Mental Health NP
Maryam can leave work at 5pm.

“I no longer have to be [glued to] the computer. Freed has returned me to the proper care of my patients, and given my personal life back.”

– Dr. Maryam Zarei, Immunologist
Bryan has renewed his passion for healthcare.

“Freed has not only given me back my life — but re-sparked the joy of practicing primary care that I found in medical school. I am never going to not use Freed.”

– Dr. Bryan Walker, Family Medicine
Sean is enjoying his hot tub again. That one's my favorite.

In a survey of one enterprise customer, 100% of clinicians reported better work-life balance, 80% were happier in their jobs, and 80% felt they were delivering better patient care.

Thank You

To every clinician dedicated to caring for others, thank you.

If you haven’t tried Freed yet, I’d love to see how much time we can give back to you with a 7-day free trial.
